Ambu-Star’s
Bariatric Units
The
field of medicine concerned with the study of obesity,
its causes, prevention and treatment is known as Bariatrics.
As medical interventions become more readily available
to obese clients in our service are, Ambu-Star Ambulance
service has committed itself to developing a transportation
system that is safe and reliable, while maintaining
and respecting a client’s dignity with the Upstate’s
first Bariatric unit.
This unit decreases the risk of back injuries to employees,
thanks to a 1600 pound capacity bariatric stretcher
– which is wider for patient comfort – and
a set of ramps and an electric wench. Crew members no
longer have to lift the patient loading or unloading.

Home
for the Holidays
This
program is very dear to the company and deserves to
be in a class by itself. During
Thanksgiving and Christmas, Ambu-Star provided transport
of patients from nursing homes to a residence to spend
that special occasion with families and loved-ones.
The company offers this service at no
cost to the patient, family, organization,
or insurance.
As part of the
“Home for the Holidays” program, Ambu-Star also transports
wheelchair patients of nursing homes to Christmas Parades.
This is a special time for many of the residents.
It brightens the spirits of the patients during the
holiday season. |
