Ambu-Star, a division of JT’s Transportation Service Inc, began operations as a Basic Service in Union County, South Carolina on February 24, 2005 opening with 3 ambulances.  Within months of the company’s first operations, additional locations were added in South Carolina to include offices, ambulances, and wheelchair units in Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties.

Since that time, Ambu-Star grew as a large system operating 9 ambulances and generated a call volume of over 8,000 calls during 2005.  By March of 2006, Ambu-Star added 6 additional ambulances bringing their ambulance fleet total to 17. Their wheelchair fleet increased from 4 in 2005 to a total of 7 in 2006.  Ambu-Star became the second largest ambulance provider in Spartanburg County within a 10-month period in 2005.  On November 4, 2005, the company upgraded its service with the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control as an Advanced Provider.
