Ambu-Star,
a division of JT’s Transportation Service Inc, began
operations as a Basic Service in Union County, South
Carolina on February 24, 2005 opening with 3 ambulances.
Within months of the company’s first operations,
additional locations were added in South Carolina to
include offices, ambulances, and wheelchair units in
Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties.
Since that time, Ambu-Star grew as
a large system operating 9 ambulances and generated
a call volume of over 8,000 calls during 2005. By
March of 2006, Ambu-Star added 6 additional
ambulances bringing their ambulance fleet total to 17.
Their wheelchair fleet increased from 4 in 2005 to a
total of 7 in 2006. Ambu-Star
became the second largest ambulance provider in Spartanburg
County within a 10-month period in 2005. On November
4, 2005, the company upgraded its service with the South
Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control
as an Advanced Provider.
Ambu-Star now generates an average of 2500 calls per
month in the 9 counties we serve. |
MANAGEMENT TEAM

George “Buck” Brandt, III (President): An attorney with
the law firm of Henderson, Brandt and Veith, P.A. Mr.
Brandt has 30 years of law experience. He is in
general law practice, with an emphasis on corporate/business
law, real estate, personal injury, and domestic relations.
A native of Greensboro, NC, he received his college education
at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC and his law degree
from the University of South Carolina School of Law. In
addition to quietly working behind the scenes for a better
and more diverse community, Buck is active in the Spartanburg
community and he serves on the board of directors for
the Spartanburg County Museum of Art.

Randy Guyton (Vice President): Mr. Guyton has been in
Emergency Medical Services since 1993. He is a Nationally
Registered Paramedic with experience in both emergency
and non-emergency transportation. Randy’s work experience
includes Cherokee County EMS as a street medic, Spartanburg
Regional Medical Center Transportation Service, and three
years as operations manager for a private healthcare transportation
service.
Randy has also been a certified firefighter and police
officer for the town of Cowpens, SC.

Von Brock (Vice President): Mr. Brock comes from a business
background. He operated a successful furniture oriented
business for 12 years. After deciding to pursue
his long time interest in emergency medicine, Von attended
and graduated from Greenville Technical College receiving
his certification as a Nationally Registered EMT- Intermediate
in 2001.
After only two months of employment by a private ambulance
service, Von was promoted to supervisor, and in 2002 he
was promoted to area manager within the Union, SC office.

Walter
R. Pettiss
(Secretary/Treasurer): Mr. Pettiss has had a varied career
as an entrepreneur in business and government. He received
a BS degree in Industrial Management from Georgia Institute
of Technology and his MBA from Harvard Graduate School
of Business Administration.
Walter has 20 years experience with Milliken and Company
where he started as a trainee and worked up to the position
of Vice President. He served as Chief of Staff to the
Governor of South Carolina, Chief Of Staff the US Secretary
of Energy, Chairman of the South Carolina Educational
Television Commission, Chairman of the South Carolina
Board of Economic Advisors, and a group leader on the
President’s Private Sector Survey of Cost Control
(The Grace Commission) and other government and private
sector endeavors. His business experience includes work
as operating officer video franchisee, Chief Operating
Officer of a wireless cable TV operation. President and
CEO of an alternate telephone common carrier, and Executive
Vice President and General Manager of a PCS Digital Wireless
Telephone Company.
